Utah Spearfishing Guidelines

The 2011 spearfishing guidelines are now available at utahscubadiver.com Spearfishing page.
To summerize; no new lakes were added for 2011 and the dates and times will remain the same.
To all anglers White Bass has been illegally introduced into Deer Creek and there is a mandatory 'kill on sight' rule. Read the guide for full details.

2009 Utah Spearfishing Schedule

From the folks at Utah Spearfishing the 2009 Organized shoot Schedule.
Did you know that there are a number of species of fish in Utah that have yet to be recorded for a spearfishing record. There are nine alone in Lake Powell. See the July 18th record shoot. In 2008 the record was recorded for cutthroat trout. What will be recorded for 2009 and who will record it?

May 23rd – Starvation Carp shoot.
June 20th – Deer Creek
July 18th – Lake Powell “records shoot”
August 15th – Bear Lake Carp shoot
September 26th – Flaming Gorge
October 17th – Fish Lake
November 21st – Flaming Gorge Reservoir

-May 17th - Deer Creek Reservoir
-June 14th - Starvation Reservoir
-July 19th - Jordanelle Reservoir
-August 23rd - Pineview Reservoir
-September 20th - Fish Lake
-October 11th - Yuba Reservoir
-November 1st - Flaming Gorge Reservoir


SPEARFISHING STANDARDS & RULES

-School Shoots – to promote new members without intimidation
-Pro/Am – Support of school shoot philosophy
-Finale – Make up your own team structure
-Points – One point per fish & one point per pound
-Duration – 9:00 am until 2:00 pm
-Game fish – None will be counted in the events
-Carp – Unlimited
-Utah Sucker – Unlimited
-Protected species – Absolutely None
-Record weight & Record documentation – Free Help & Info
-Pot Luck BBQ – All shoots where practical
-Trophies – Are being provided by Bruce Boyd – Please thank him
-Finale – Lots of Great prizes and trophies
-Finale – Total points from best four (4) shoots (100% rule applies on event stats)
-Weight measurement - Certified scales will be at all shoots
